About the book

Sleep COVID exposes the hidden connection between poor sleep, oxygen deprivation and the chronic conditions too many people accept as normal. It is a call to stop treating exhaustion like a personality trait, and start treating it like the health warning it is.

  • 174 pages of research and patient stories
  • Includes the STOP-BANG self-screening guide

About the author

Gregory Arneaud

Clinical Director at ISD Health Solutions, Certified Respiratory Therapist, U.S. Air Force Veteran, Caribbean sleep health advocate and author of The Wake Up Call: How You Sleep Is How You Live. Gregory wrote Sleep COVID for the patients he meets too late: the ones told for years they were fine while untreated sleep apnea quietly drove their health in the wrong direction.

“Sleep. Breathe. Perform.”

Why this book exists

Nobody should lose a parent, a partner or a decade to a condition we already know how to treat.

Start with why. Here is the mission, the method and the book, and what each one changes for you as a reader.

The Why: our mission

Because it got personal.

Gregory lost his grandmother to complications tied to untreated sleep apnoea, and nearly lost his father to a stroke linked to the same condition. His father recovered, because someone finally looked at how he slept.

That contrast is the reason this book exists. Sleep apnoea affects hundreds of millions of people, most of them undiagnosed, and it quietly drives the heart disease, strokes, diabetes and depression we treat as separate, inevitable tragedies. They are not inevitable. They are treatable once someone connects the dots.

The mission: no family should discover sleep apnoea the way Gregory's did.

  • Recognise the warning signs in yourself, your partner or your parent, years earlier
  • Stop accepting exhaustion, snoring and 3 a.m. waking as personality traits
  • Walk into a doctor's office able to ask for the right test, by name

The How: our method

Clinical truth in plain language.

Twenty-five years of respiratory care and sleep diagnostics, translated into language you can actually use. No jargon walls, no scare tactics. Every chapter pairs the science with a real patient story and ends with something you can do tonight. The book treats you like an intelligent adult, not a medical student.

  • Screen yourself tonight with the same STOP-BANG and Epworth tools clinicians use
  • Understand your diagnosis: AHI scores, home tests, lab studies, like a professional
  • Follow a clear path from suspicion to testing to treatment that fits your life

The What: the book

Sleep COVID: 174 pages that could add years to your life.

Fourteen chapters on what sleep apnoea does to the heart, hormones, mind and relationships, plus dedicated chapters for men and for women, the connection your dentist and optometrist already see, and a reader toolkit with the STOP-BANG questionnaire, the Epworth scale and the warning signs worth acting on.

  • Finish the book knowing exactly where you stand and what to do next
  • Give it to the person you love who snores, and finally be heard
  • Wake up rested, think clearly, and get your energy, drive and relationships back

Inside the book

Fourteen chapters. One uncomfortable truth per chapter.

Plus the reader toolkit: the STOP-BANG questionnaire, a simplified Epworth Sleepiness Scale and additional warning signs.

For the men. Chapter 6, Man Down

“Rest may be the smallest thing Sleep COVID is stealing from you.”

For the man who's been told his snoring is annoying and has become the butt of every joke. The man told his fatigue is just part of getting older. The man whose energy, drive or performance has quietly made him wonder whether something is wrong with him. Men love scoreboards. There's one ESPN doesn't show.

For the women. Chapter 8, Her Silent Struggle

“She doesn't match the picture in our heads at all, and that's exactly why she gets missed.”

In women it often shows up as insomnia at 3 a.m., as brain fog she has started apologising for, as a woman crying in her parked car before a 9 a.m. meeting with no idea why, when part of the answer may have been lying next to her all night in an airway that never fully opened.
